Brass Knuckles

Ye Olde Weapons – Brass Knuckles

Dispite the name brass knuckles, many different materials have been used to make them, lead, wood, plastic, brass etc

They have been in use for a long time and just as effective today as they were then. In the American Civil War soldiers would make their own. Over time people would also attach other items such as knives to them.

Bouncers in the saloons of the Lower East Side and other places would use them as tools of the trade, people like Monk Eastman, Jack “Eat Em Up” McManus and Gallus Mag would patrol their saloons and dealing with the rowdies

This particular pair of Brass Knuckles belonged to Abraham Lincoln’s bodyguard
